Light Naptha

Light naptha has low levels of aromatic molecules and high levels of paraffins. Paraffins are used primarily in petrochemical production. Light naptha is more prevalent in Asian markets as petrochemical feedstock, because most petrochemical plants are located nowhere near gas fields, and transporting liquids is much easier than transporting gas. Asian Petrochemical and plastics industries are dominant on a global scale, which increases the competitive pricing for light naptha in that part of the world. In the United States, natural gas liquids (NGL’s) are the preferred petrochemical feedstock. This is mostly due to the fact that petrochemical plants are located close to gas fields and transportation via pipeline is more efficient and less expensive.
