Mineral Oils Pour Point
PhosLube – Mineral Oils Pour Point
The mineral oils pour point helps determine the type of petroleum feedstock used during the production of the sample being analyzed. It also helps determine whether or not there is wax or paraffins present. If the oils purpose is to be used on applications functioning in low temperatures then the pour point can be very important. The same can be said for oils that are stored, shipped, and handled in low temperatures. The pour point test consists of a sample being heated to a specific temperature, then cooled at a specific rate, then flow tested in intervals. The lowest temperature reading where no movement of the oil is then recorded. This temperature value is known as the oils pour point.
